A birthday with no gifts, please.

The following post was written by Helen Boyd. Blaise is Ronan's cousin and he recently celebrated his 9th birthday in a special way.

Blaise asked us if he could have a "Birthday Fundraiser" for Ronan, he wanted to have a sliding party at our house with a few friends from school. He composed a letter of explanation which accompanied the invitation and the kids were asked to come to his birthday party but instead of a birthday gift for Blaise they were asked to give money for Ronan. The parents got on board and stuck with the rules. The generosity of these families surpassed our expectation.

My father told us when you give it should hurt a little then you know you gave enough, I think Blaise met these requirements of giving. Blaise’s idea raised $300 and counting. This was a win-win, Blaise feels like a "Big Shot" and Ronan gets a little help from his cousin. We all had a great time. Richard was in charge of safe sliding and surprisingly nobody had to go to emerg! Blaise is truly thrilled with his efforts and I know that Ronan is thrilled as well, as "Team Ronan" expands into Sudbury!! I know you have lots of support but I think there is something special when your support team is the same age. The list of friends responsible for this donation includes:
