Ronan was born on June 13, 2001 in Edmonton to Joe and Ali. He is a big brother to Malcolm; grandson to Lydia, Teresa and Bob; nephew, cousin and friend to many. A 4th grader at Prince Charles School; musician; music lover; chess champion; Harry Potter fan; bananagram-er; card shark; board gamer, corny joke teller. And cancer fighter.

This blog is intended to ensure that Ronan’s vast support team of family and friends are connected, informed and engaged while he, dad Joe, mom Ali and brother Malcolm help him beat a terrible, scary disease - embryonal sarcoma, a rare childhood liver cancer. So welcome to Ronan’s blog. Sit, read, cry, and vow to fight this fight with Ronan, Malcolm, Ali and Joe. And please leave a few words of encouragement with a Comment.

Round 7 tomorrow

Ronan has been recovering this week from his thoracotomy - the last 2 days he has been feeling good - only sore when he laughs too hard!
Tomorrow morning he starts his final round of chemo. He is only taking the Ifosfamide this time as he has maxed out with the Doxorubicin. Hopefully this means recovery from the low counts won't be as long and the nausea won't be as bad.
After this round he will be under close watch for the next few years with regular scans and checkups and with any luck his port-catheter will come out in 3 months!

I hope Ronan knows what an amazing person he is. There are few people who are able to fight as well as he has. We are so happy for Ronan, and the whole family.

  4. At Stone church we are praising GOD for HIS kindness and faithfulness in answering prayers!!!
I still have a pin in my car with your (Baby picture) smiling face. It is a reminder to me of you and the long tunnel of hardship you have been having. The support has been important to you I know, from your loving parents, your family and friends, and all those who only know ABOUT you Ronan.
Two ladies whom I don't know their names walked by my place with a beautiful little dog the other day; one lady asked how you are.It seems that I was at her door several blocks away weeks and weeks ago , selling tickets on the Symphony basket. She didn't win the basket, but was touched by you and your courage!
The fame might be too much for you to bear my man!!!
    Love you, Peggy
