Goodnight everyone...Ronan is in Intensive care for a couple of days. He has lots of tubes and is well medicated for pain. He is being kept asleep tonight so he keeps still to let his body rest. He will wake up tomorrow morning and will be feeling groggy for a bit. Joe is with him now while I get some rest, and then I will be with him at 2ish so Joe can sleep. It will be wonderful to tell him he kicked butt today!!
Thank you all for your concern, your prayers, your happy thoughts, your friendship and your love. Ronan still has a ways to recovery, but this was the big hurdle. The support from our family, friends, and community has amazed us and helped us. Thank you.

Ronan was born on June 13, 2001 in Edmonton to Joe and Ali. He is a big brother to Malcolm; grandson to Lydia, Teresa and Bob; nephew, cousin and friend to many. A 4th grader at Prince Charles School; musician; music lover; chess champion; Harry Potter fan; bananagram-er; card shark; board gamer, corny joke teller. And cancer fighter.
This blog is intended to ensure that Ronan’s vast support team of family and friends are connected, informed and engaged while he, dad Joe, mom Ali and brother Malcolm help him beat a terrible, scary disease - embryonal sarcoma, a rare childhood liver cancer. So welcome to Ronan’s blog. Sit, read, cry, and vow to fight this fight with Ronan, Malcolm, Ali and Joe. And please leave a few words of encouragement with a Comment.

Hey Ali, thanks for the phone call. When I told Cameron the good news his first reaction was, "that's great." Then he said, "Did she phone everyone?" His way of saying (she even phoned you?) I told him what I said to you. It was like delivering the news when you've just given birth only you said "It's better!" Wow, what a feeling. It was my sister Barbie's b'day yesterday (It's always someone's b'day in my family; there are too damn many of us) so I will never forget the date of this good news. I concur with Tanya...Way to go Ronan!
ReplyDeleteAwesome news! Evan and I have been thinking a lot of all of you guys recently. We are thrilled that the surgery went so well. Our best to everyone! Ronan is a trooper - a very tough and mighty trooper!!!
ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteWe were out to a hockey game with periods last night when you called. We really did appreciate the call. Cathy, Ali MUST have called everyone!!! The best message I think we ever had!!! Right after "Good Morning" Blaise said "can I check the Blog?"
It was my brother Mike's birthday on the 7th and my brother Pat's birthday on the 8th and Mary pat's birthday on the 17th, I will still remember the date, I'm the 10th!
We will all be thinking of you and praying for you.
God Bless
Wonderful news and sweet relief is right! Ronan truly is an amazing boy and loved by so many. Hugs to the whole family.
ReplyDeleteWe were all overjoyed to hear how well everything went and we'll be keeping the prayers coming. Graham was soooo thrilled and would like to say hi to Ronan
