Insurance won't cover the trip to Hawaii while receiving treatments...so instead of dashing of to the tropical island of Maui this week, Ronan is lined up to start Round 6 of chemo on Monday. Because of Ronan's progress, the doctors really didn't want to delay treatments, so it will be nice when we do travel not to have chemotherapy to look forward to when we get back!!
We saw Judy at the Regional today and she was totally impressed at how great Ronan looked (2 weeks post-surgery today!) and said that the doctors at the IWK told her that Ronan was a star. :)
Maureen and Peter - it was lovely to see you today!

Ronan was born on June 13, 2001 in Edmonton to Joe and Ali. He is a big brother to Malcolm; grandson to Lydia, Teresa and Bob; nephew, cousin and friend to many. A 4th grader at Prince Charles School; musician; music lover; chess champion; Harry Potter fan; bananagram-er; card shark; board gamer, corny joke teller. And cancer fighter.
This blog is intended to ensure that Ronan’s vast support team of family and friends are connected, informed and engaged while he, dad Joe, mom Ali and brother Malcolm help him beat a terrible, scary disease - embryonal sarcoma, a rare childhood liver cancer. So welcome to Ronan’s blog. Sit, read, cry, and vow to fight this fight with Ronan, Malcolm, Ali and Joe. And please leave a few words of encouragement with a Comment.

Hi Ronan, Thanks for helping me yesterday(and I bet you didn't even know you did!). I went to the Dr. and he told me I had to get a big needle in my hip and I said, NO! and he said, YES! So... he won and I had to get it and I was scared and covered my ears(I should have covered my eyes but I kind of forgot!) and I thought ,'Ronan could do this!' so I did it too. I am glad it is done...I am glad you are doing so well .Barbara.
ReplyDeleteAli and Ronan, it was awesome to see you too!! And what an inspiration--Ronan you look strong and healthy and wonderful, and you are a superstar!! When you have finished everything at the IWK, the doctors will be bragging about you for years!! You have set an amazing example of courage and victory for many people!! And boy you are going to have a ball in Hawaii with all this behind you!! God bless!!
ReplyDeleteWasn't Michael Ignatieff lucky to meet YOU, Ronan! You looked pretty calm and cool during the whole thing.
ReplyDeleteAlthough you haven't heard from me much, I have been following your progress closely and am so gald that things are going so well. Won't those beaches in Hawaii be wonderful after this miserable winter.
Keep fighting and remember you have a big cheeering section.
