Ronan was born on June 13, 2001 in Edmonton to Joe and Ali. He is a big brother to Malcolm; grandson to Lydia, Teresa and Bob; nephew, cousin and friend to many. A 4th grader at Prince Charles School; musician; music lover; chess champion; Harry Potter fan; bananagram-er; card shark; board gamer, corny joke teller. And cancer fighter.

This blog is intended to ensure that Ronan’s vast support team of family and friends are connected, informed and engaged while he, dad Joe, mom Ali and brother Malcolm help him beat a terrible, scary disease - embryonal sarcoma, a rare childhood liver cancer. They say Tumor Lysis...I say Tumor Lice

We laugh a lot at the things that go on in the hospital. Tumor lice. I thought (back in November) that Mesna prevents tumor lice. It is a medicine that Ronan has been taking with his chemo to make him pee a lot to flush out the dead cells that the chemo has killed. I was sure I heard correctly! I even googled it (with no matching results)...And so, it has been a longstanding joke that we haven't been able to solve - until today. When Judy said "Mesna" today, Joe and I said "tumor lice" and we all started laughing and she explained: Mesna prevents Tumor Lysis...not lices! Mystery solved...still laughing :)
