Ronan was born on June 13, 2001 in Edmonton to Joe and Ali. He is a big brother to Malcolm; grandson to Lydia, Teresa and Bob; nephew, cousin and friend to many. A 4th grader at Prince Charles School; musician; music lover; chess champion; Harry Potter fan; bananagram-er; card shark; board gamer, corny joke teller. And cancer fighter.

This blog is intended to ensure that Ronan’s vast support team of family and friends are connected, informed and engaged while he, dad Joe, mom Ali and brother Malcolm help him beat a terrible, scary disease - embryonal sarcoma, a rare childhood liver cancer. So welcome to Ronan’s blog. Sit, read, cry, and vow to fight this fight with Ronan, Malcolm, Ali and Joe. And please leave a few words of encouragement with a Comment.

TGIF

Ronan is amazing all the nurses and doctors. His breathing tube came out finally at 3pm (after asking us every 10 minutes when it would come out...apparently morphine makes you forget...) and our nurse informed us that only 1% of patients go to room air right away (no oxygen mask). He is still under constant watch though because of his long surgery, but they expect we'll be on 7 Link sometime tomorrow.

my turn to catch some zzz's.

  1. Hey guys
Great news. Can't wait to hear that you're out of intensive care and in your own room. We're waiting and watching for more good news. I'm not a bit surprized that you are amazing the docs and nurses those of us who've been close to you on a daily basis know just how strong and brave you've been through all of this. You're an inspiration to us all.
    Love to you all,
    Karen and Dave
