Yes, there are a lot of medicines, finger pokes, a skinny friend and other stuff in Ronan’s life these days...but there is good stuff too. For example there have been lots of visits from family near and far. On Saturday uncle Jim and Malcolm arrived at the I
WK from Saint John. Jim is an artist and teacher in Hampton. Today Jim and Ronan put their talents to work decorating 6 Link for Christmas. Together they gave Room 603 a Dr Suess makeover as Ronan and Jim with help from Malcolm painted the Grinch Who Stole Christmas on the window. And today Zeta, one of Ronan’s very favorite cousins and her mom Steph arrived from Williamstown, MA via Montreal. And Zeta came bearing gifts – a special gift … LEGO! If you’ve been following this blog you’ll know its been like Christmas for Ronan since being admitted to the IWK. Cards, photos, board games, books and other gifts of all sorts arrive almost daily at the IWK to help Ronan pass the hours while getting his treatment. But Lego is special treat for Boyd boys, they love Lego and can wile away many (many!) hours putting together the latest Lego invention.

With the second chemo treatment finished Ronan is feeling better and gaining strength everyday. In no time this new Lego set will be mastered and Ronan will be ruling at Risk again. Stay tuned…
I love the picture of the three boys together! Looking good Boyd boys!
ReplyDeleteHello Ronan, I just ran into your page while looking for more information on this rare cancer. My 11yr old daughter was diagnosed with embryonal sarcoma too. On the day your diagnosis was confirmed my daughter Victoria was in surgery getting the entire right side of her liver removed. It took two long weeks to finally get a name for what she has. She will start chemo in the next week. I want to let you know that you are a big inspiration to people everywhere! We are here in Virginia, US. You are a brave boy and have a beautiful family that loves and supports you. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. I will be following your journey with only high hopes for a speedy recovery.
ReplyDeleteJuly james - can you send me an email?
ReplyDeleteleonardali@hotmail.com I wish your daughter a speedy recovery too! Our prayers and thoughts are with your daughter, you and your family. Chemo isn't so bad when they get the nausea meds right - you have to pee lots though!!!
take care,
Ali (Ronan's mom)
