Ronan was born on June 13, 2001 in Edmonton to Joe and Ali. He is a big brother to Malcolm; grandson to Lydia, Teresa and Bob; nephew, cousin and friend to many. A 4th grader at Prince Charles School; musician; music lover; chess champion; Harry Potter fan; bananagram-er; card shark; board gamer, corny joke teller. And cancer fighter.
This blog is intended to ensure that Ronan’s vast support team of family and friends are connected, informed and engaged while he, dad Joe, mom Ali and brother Malcolm help him beat a terrible, scary disease - embryonal sarcoma, a rare childhood liver cancer. So welcome to Ronan’s blog. Sit, read, cry, and vow to fight this fight with Ronan, Malcolm, Ali and Joe. And please leave a few words of encouragement with a Comment.

ReplyDeleteYou have a dietitian in the family and you're getting your advice from a 6 yo? Not a good one I admit - but a 6 yo?! What's up with that?
Guess who?
Karen,
ReplyDeleteThe dietitian and nurses approved of the calorie intake...he is also getting TSD..two IVs a)sugar, vitamins, salt etc. and b)fat
I love it when you call me Alison :)
Dearest Ali,
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking of you all every single say.
Love to you all,
Hanna Daltrop
P.S. I've just sent a letter to Ronan and hope he receives it soon!
Hi Hanna - so wonderful to hear from you!

Hi Ali and family:
ReplyDeleteThis is my favourite post so far. Of course Malcolm knows best; he's Ronan's brother, he's a boy, and he knows what Ronan would eat no matter what. Fantastic story.
And as a pharmacist (and not a dietician, obviously), I totally approve. I think kids who feel at ALL under the weather should eat whatever provides calories. Healthy food is good....but any food at all is almost as good. If I'm feeling bad, I choose M&M's, usually. Low in vitamin C, but, whatever.
Speaking of M&m, Marcus and margie send warm greetings. We're all thinking about you, and are cheering from a distance.

when i used to work at the movie theater, my favorite part of the night was going home with a bag of nacho cheese doritos and a chocolate milk...yum!!! this must run in the family...
ReplyDeleteI think people drastically underestimate the nutritional value of Doritos.
ReplyDeleteDoritos always make me feel better...
ReplyDeletep.s. I love the picture of your Mom and the boys.
