Ronan was born on June 13, 2001 in Edmonton to Joe and Ali. He is a big brother to Malcolm; grandson to Lydia, Teresa and Bob; nephew, cousin and friend to many. A 4th grader at Prince Charles School; musician; music lover; chess champion; Harry Potter fan; bananagram-er; card shark; board gamer, corny joke teller. And cancer fighter.
This blog is intended to ensure that Ronan’s vast support team of family and friends are connected, informed and engaged while he, dad Joe, mom Ali and brother Malcolm help him beat a terrible, scary disease - embryonal sarcoma, a rare childhood liver cancer. So welcome to Ronan’s blog. Sit, read, cry, and vow to fight this fight with Ronan, Malcolm, Ali and Joe. And please leave a few words of encouragement with a Comment.

Busking on Saturday
Matina Dick and her friend Lauren McGrath were very excited to be able to help contribute. This was their first time playing in public (as they just started playing last year). Matina and Lauren had many people stop by, read the information about Ronan and drop in their change (and even $20s!...imagine how excited these 9 year olds were about that!). Gavin Adams and Rory Britt took over from our girls…and kept the market goers entertained!
I was touched by the number of people who stopped and wanted to know how Ronan is doing and how the family is doing. One young mother said she will keep Ronan in her prayers…even as she begins her own chemo treatment this week. Others stopped and offered to help out in future fundraisers for the family.
Saint Johners are truly keeping the Leonard-Boyd family in their hearts and prayers. We hope all that support can be felt in Halifax!
