In what should be Ronan's final surgery, his portacath was removed today. This brings something like a sense of closure, and we were all happy when it was over.
Ronan was understandably nervous just before the procedure, but not so put off that he could resist a laugh at the sight of his father dressed in scrubs and ready to escort him to the operating table. I don't see what's so funny, myself - not so far from "ER"-era George Clooney, really.
After surgery, all it took was a brief nap and Ronan was up, full of energy, and in need of some veggie lasagna. It's a bit wierd for him to be suddenly without the portacath, with which he has lived now for nearly eight months! Hard to believe.
Great job, Ronan - you are amazing.
