Ronan was born on June 13, 2001 in Edmonton to Joe and Ali. He is a big brother to Malcolm; grandson to Lydia, Teresa and Bob; nephew, cousin and friend to many. A 4th grader at Prince Charles School; musician; music lover; chess champion; Harry Potter fan; bananagram-er; card shark; board gamer, corny joke teller. And cancer fighter.

This blog is intended to ensure that Ronan’s vast support team of family and friends are connected, informed and engaged while he, dad Joe, mom Ali and brother Malcolm help him beat a terrible, scary disease - embryonal sarcoma, a rare childhood liver cancer. So welcome to Ronan’s blog. Sit, read, cry, and vow to fight this fight with Ronan, Malcolm, Ali and Joe. And please leave a few words of encouragement with a Comment.

counts have rebounded!

Ronan had a busy day today. He had to get up at 6am to eat his breakfast because he couldn't eat after 6:30 because of his CT and PET scans. (the PET didn't happen yesterday because the isotopes that they inject to do the scans didn't get on the airplane from Montreal). On our way to the 1st floor Ronan's skinny friend lost one of its wheels - (these ones have 6 - so can afford to lose a few).

The new fleece blanket Ronan was given today from Mrs. Kane was a hit and he took it with him for his scans - he smiled when he ripped open the bag and said, "this blanket is really jazzy!" Thank you! a perfect timed gift!

Also, the bacterial culture result came back as e.coli, so they started him on an antibiotic for that today. Even though his counts are good and his temperature has remained low since Monday, he needs to stay for 24hrs after being given the new antibiotic. The good thing - we can come home on Saturday morning and take the medicine orally from home for a week instead of staying in the hospital :)

  1. We just wanted to let you know Tanna and I finished the first Harry Potter last night. Ronan was in the book...he was a Centaur in the forest. Very strong and oddly beautiful I imagine. Our Ronan has shown himself to be sooooo strong and beautiful in body and spirit...not oddly at all, however!! We'll have to read on and see if we find Malcolm in her books...
We are thinking of you all and continue to be obsessed with your Blog. Love Cousin Lydia and Tanna and the Daddy too.
