Ronan was born on June 13, 2001 in Edmonton to Joe and Ali. He is a big brother to Malcolm; grandson to Lydia, Teresa and Bob; nephew, cousin and friend to many. A 4th grader at Prince Charles School; musician; music lover; chess champion; Harry Potter fan; bananagram-er; card shark; board gamer, corny joke teller. And cancer fighter.

This blog is intended to ensure that Ronan’s vast support team of family and friends are connected, informed and engaged while he, dad Joe, mom Ali and brother Malcolm help him beat a terrible, scary disease - embryonal sarcoma, a rare childhood liver cancer. So welcome to Ronan’s blog. Sit, read, cry, and vow to fight this fight with Ronan, Malcolm, Ali and Joe. And please leave a few words of encouragement with a Comment.

Sunny in Halifax!

Good morning everyone! We were told that because it is a holiday today, things will be very quiet. We like quiet! As of 8pm tonight Ronan will have finished his first round of chemo. He is taking it like a trooper. Joe and I have figured out how to get from the bed to the bathroom quite quickly (for those of you who have never been on an IV, this requires unplugging the skinny friend and pushing that behind Ronan - it has 5 wheels that have a mind of their own)We are getting less clumsy!

If you want to call today, it is a good day. Last night Joe took my calling card and forgot it by the public pay phone. I already told him this information was going public. :) And today being a holiday...no stores open. So please call.

love you all
xo

Have you noticed that there have been more than 800 visits to this web
page. I have been trying to get that many people to by work webpage for years. Tell Ronan he is coming to have to come work for me when he is out. And Zeta and I will work on the funny emails! We are taking the day off to visit some horses with her friend.
    Love, S

  2. Joe, Ali and Ronan,
We're glad to hear things are progressing.
With all those wheels rolling around every which way it is impossible not to be somewhat clumsy.
I hope you get to feel the sunshine today, either outside or through the window...it's good after all that rain.
We're thinking of you. love your cousins Lydia and Tanna...+ the Dad in this house, BJ

  3. Guys - you can also call to regular phones on Skype you just won't see a picture so you don't have to worry about the phone card.

Our Lydia (Burke) gave me directions to Ronan's blog yesterday and I just managed to set up my Google account today. We just wanted to let you know you are all in our thoughts and prayers. Good luck with that i.v. pole! Love from some Kyte cousins, Valerie, Brenna, Erin and Tim.

I'm not as good with the words as my sisters. Just wanted to let you know that our thoughts and prayers are with you as well.
