It started simply enough - with an email about a $20 contribution passed from a teacher in Saint John to a string (not strung out) parent. A couple of emails passed back and forth and this string parent, raised in Millidgeville (with the Boyd’s), went to school with Joe when he was ‘Joey’, played violin with Ali and more recently one of the volunteer organizers of the Indian Dinner and Silent Auction in support of team ronan.
And finally, some details of the event…
It will be held on Friday, Nov 26 at 6 pm at St Mark’s United Church in west Saint John. Ticket sales are going quickly. Call soon for your tickets – see the left side of the blog for phone numbers. Silent auction items currently number in the 40’s, with many more promised.
Some of the volunteers include (and this is a partial list, sincerest apologies to anyone left off the list) but you get a sense of who and what's involved in putting together such an event.
Helen Gollings (string teacher, Symphony New Brunswick)
Janet Clinton (string parent, Alto Mare String Orchestra, west area ticket sales)
Kate Elman-Wilcott (Children's InterAction Theatre, string parent, publicity)
Dan Elman (Kate's father, involved with the chess club)
Tanya Paterson (one of Ali's legions of best friend and central area ticket sales)
Suzanne Buckley (valley ticket sales)
Leona Laracey (silent auction)
Helen French (silent auction)
Lori Roberts (dinner venue, St. Mark's United Church)
Benita Turnbull (another of Ali’s bff’s, volunteers, Symphony New Brunswick)
John Ruigrok (string parent, program)
Richard Kidd (entertainment)
Harvesh, Jesmine, & Dilshad Elavia (string parent, cooking the Indian dinner)
With such an impressive list of volunteers it's sure to be a great night. Thanks for this amazing event. Can hardly wait for the report on the night.
