November 18th at The Blue Olive

On Thursday December 18 at The Blue Olive three bands from Saint John put on a lively show in support of Team Ronan. Ali Leonard, as many of you know is a member of "The Penny Blacks", one of the bands that was on the roster for the gig at the Blue Olive. It was a great night and I was impressed not only of the generousity of the musicians to donate their time and talent for Team Ronan, but I was also touched by how sincere the musicians were about using their talent to help Ronan and his family through this crisis. The bands played to an audience of approximately 100 people, not bad for a Thursday night in November. Babette Hayward and her drummer started out the evening with a great set of songs, Babette has a fantastic voice. I am always amazed (and jealous) when two musicians can captivate an audience, they certainly did. Clinton Charlton and his band were number two on the play list. This is the first time that I have seen Clinton perform(I don't get out much). Wow! Clinton and his band have energy and talent, a great band to see live! A fantastic set of original material that rocked the Blue Olive. I am a fan! Clinton was amazing and repeatedly reminded the audience of why we were all there....in support of Ronan. The evening ended with a set by The Penny Blacks. Jason, Chuck, Clinton, Chris, Erin, Dan and probably a few other musicians that I forgot pulled off a great performance for the audience and Team Ronan. It never ceases to amaze me at how supportive the music and art scene is in Saint John. Ali, Joe and family have fantastic friends.Thank you also to the Blue Olive for hosting this event and Stephen Tobias of the Saint John Theatre Company for donating two tickets for The Importance of Being Earnest which opens this week at the Imperial Theatre
